I know i'm no Professional Photographer or anything, but I noticed that (not just here, everywhere) not many people know how to take some sweet pictures. So i'll start this thread up so I, and other good photo-takers to share some advice and tips on taking nice pictures!
Tips:
Use the scenery around you, such as: buildings, trees, signs, light poles, or in my case, the sky!
Mess with the color settings to see if you can come up with some good-looking color settings, or in my case, B&W.
Try tilting the camera a little, it gives the picture an unusuall edge.
Find some good lighting, not too bright on a summer day, but not really dark so you can't see anything. Sometimes, I like Partly-Cloudy days because it's 1/2 light 1/2 dark out. Not too bright, and has a little shadyness. A lot of photographers will tell you, Lighting is one of the most crucial necessities for nice pictures.
I usually like to get low to take the pictures, but whatever you want it to look like; find the correct height and angle you want.
For smaller- close up pictures, use a Macro setting.
Don't ever use the standard flash from the camera, if you need light, save up for some external flash devices that sit on tripods. Those are nice!
Here's some of my pictures I have taken recently.
edit- Sorry, I thought I rotated those picture on my camera, but it didn't uplaod them rotated.....
I am not a great photographer myself but I know enough to have a little appreciation. You should start with trying to at least frame the object of interest in your photographs. I would hold off on artsy reflection shots and "messing around with the color" until you have a better grasp of the basics.

lol @ wikipedia aka WEAKipedia, I hope this post isn't in reference to my post "photo shoot", I happen to like my pics lol.
lol, I didn't even see your post. I'm sure they are nice pictures. I don't tend to "bag" on other people for taking bad pictures, because i know I suck myself.
