I've only been in the area a short time, but already im having transmission problems and i need a hand finding a honest, subaru orientated shop thats in or around the Seattle area. If anyone has a favorite or knows of one please let me know it would help so much!
its REALLY hard to find a trustworthy shop! i've been looking for a LONG time and i just finally found a shop with a good reputation and one that i think i can grow to trust!
mzm in austin tx, if u got the money to go that far, they have had some cars in import magazines. back when i got my old wrx tuned there there were 2 rx7s a supra and an s2000 in the shop and they were all out of state. yet the majority cars they tune are subies and evos

Oh and the work i need is in the trasmisson and maybe some tuning if they really know what they're doing
But we can handle that for you and we are the only people around with a Mustang Dyno. We charge 350 for a reflash and dyno tune. Our tuner Dominic DTRacing™ ::# Custom Tuning Services## “Get a Dom Tune!”® is one of the best. and as far as the transmission we charge book time.

I just checked out the site the other day. Sounds like a nice place. Cant wait to get home get some part on the car and make the trip "up the road" to get a nice pro tune on my car.

Ditto on Kito Auto Sports. They did a great tune on my car. Now that I have new gears and clutch, I'll be headed back over to see what Dom and Kito can wring from my little beast.
If you are close to western Montana, or want to drive this way, Brent at G&M Auto Tech in Polson, Montana is one of the best mechanics I've ever encountered. He's a master mech. Can work on just about anything. Has built cars for the rich and famous. Lots of experience with Subarus. And his prices are far more reasonable than big-city prices.
Something is wrong with this site. I'm logged in but it keeps telling me that I'm not. I'll try again:
The gears are from Aus, but are not PPG. AndrewTech has an exclusive on PPG's for the U.S. market. PPG would not sell to us direct. And, as you know, AndrewTech is VERY expensive.
We went with another company that has a long history of supplying trans parts to off-road racers, and that supplies a lot of trans parts to the European market, especially VW.
The parts looked good. The machining is excellent. And they are obviously shot-peened.
But, it turns out, second gear had some very small machining marks on the idler gears and thus the trans is noisy in first and second. The company is sending us a new input shaft and new second gear. Not happy about cracking the trans again, but they promise to make labor costs up with future shipments.
For sure the trans is exponentially stronger than stock. What you guys dialed in is a yawn both for the trans and for the new clutch (ClutchMasters Kevlar 300). It's a completely different car. I flogged it as hard as I could in 1-4 gears, and especially in 1-3, on a very windy road that goes up the east side of Flathead Lake. Rock solid. With the old trans, whenever I even remotely got on it, you could feel that the trans was not happy.
Well, we'll see what happens when I get it back to you guys, and Dom dials it in the way it should be dialed in. Right now there is almost no timing in it, and the boost is down about 3 pounds. I'll bring the parts that the company is replacing so that you guys can see the strength and quality.
What's the schedule look like for Christmas break?
