WTB: EJ22 Turbo Closed Deck Block

Sorry... Not sure where I should start this tread :(

But I live in Australia and I'm looking for a replacement engine for my 22B. It needs to be a closed deck block. I believe you guys got a EJ22 turbo in the States? I just need the bottom end without the heads and stuff.

Can anyone let me know where I should be looking?

Cheers,
Paul :)

Yeah... We didn't sell the EJ22 Turbo in Australia and the Dealers are saying it could take between 6 and 12 months to get 1... :(

So I thought it would be easier and proberbly quicker to buy a secondhand block from the States... Do you have any scrap/recyclers junk yards that deal with Subaru's?

we didn't get the motor you're looking for over here either. We had a turbo legacy for one year (1991 I think) but that's not what you want.

From what I'm told, your Turbo Legacy SOHC EJ22T had a closed deck block, the same as my 22B but I've never seen your Legacy's insides... That's why I'm looking for someone who knows of a good salvage yard, who would be prepared (payed of cause) to pull the heads off and check for me. Cheers

the thought of a beat up old legacy block in the sexiest subaru ever made really makes me cringe. BTW, we need more pictures of your car before we give more advice.

Yeah me too.... it's not exactly the same but it's the base to start the rebuild with. :)

Sorry about that... here is the website link :)

One of the boys in my local club took these photos just over a year ago. He does this as a hobby and gets to go to lots of good places. Jan (the photographer) really loved taking the pictures of my car, because he too is a Subaru WRX owner.

I don't think it's a bad idea. Sure it may be an old block, but if all you're using is a bare, fully-closed deck block from a stock legacy, how bad could it be?

If, in fact, there is such a thing as a usdm ej22t, you can try car-part.com. They let you search a bunch of junkyards nationwide. If you're not sure, you can search or ask on nasioc.com. I'm sure you can find your answer there.
