Timing belt
i'm just wondering which engines smash the valves when the timing belt snaps, i'm pretty sure the 2.5 does.

I'm under the assumtion all Subaru boxer motors do.

Sorry. It sucks.

Havent looked into it. But, if youre that worried about it you should throw that STI timing belt on there

2.0 and 2.5 are interference

the main problem isnt with valves hitting pistons but valves hitting valves (intake hitting exhaust). buy genuine subaru belts and change them every 100 000km and you will never have a problem unless some muppet puts the belt on wrong.

well you smashed the pulleys so there is a chance that you have a cracked block or something else seriously wrong. Let your insurance cover going to a shop.
