Hey guys ive had my 02 wrx for bout 9 months now and while i was gone my sis had it and ran it low on oil ...bitch but i love her so i was wondering if you guys cant help me they havent looked to see what bearing it is yet weather it be the main crank bearing or a couple rods... sundance shop has it and they told me to get a new motor.. do you think it would be cheaper to find out what bearing it is then get a kit for the rods and bearing and so forth or get a new motor??? if anyone could help i would appreciate it!! thanks ts
... any bearing most likely will make you replace parts that the bearing was connected to.
It would be a lot cheaper to find a short block, used sti or wrx is relatively easy to find and cheap, under $800-900. Plus it is also not very time consuming to replace a short block.
Yes new sti shortblock about 1700 or less , thicker headgaskets cometic to lower compression and check the cam journals for excessive heat, then have it retuned after its done and you will love the new power and torque. Dont forget to install a new oil pump
