The only time I can think of to use over-sized rod bearings is when you have your crank honed.. If you spin a bearing you can have your crank seats "dressed" which will remove material and thus you need thicker bearings.. Anyone else think of any applications that I can't think of now??
Ken, you're pretty much on it. I was going to say any time that you have to machine the crank you'd use them. .
