*Need Help. 2006 Impreza 2.5 Short Block with ej20 heads?

Question is - would a 2006 impreza 2.5 short block high compression motor work on my 2002 WRX heads? Would it work? Easily? Any benefit? Let me know thoughts, ideas, suggestions? My 2002 WRX has very little throttle response and its killing me. My thinking is the larger block with give more power and torque. But I'm pretty new to Subaru world.

Garage
It's a hefty cost for what you're wanting out of it if your motor is fine.

Better off just getting a 2L block, or if your feeling froggy, a 2.2L block with your 2L heads...

Increased displacement vs increased stroke will not increase your spool time. If response is your concern just down shift. Don't get caught up in the "modification" money pit unless you just have money to burn. If your car is a DD (daily driver) you want response and reliability.

What is an engine???

Lyan is an unknown
Speaking from experience, the EJ257 block with the EJ20 heads can turn into a nightmare very very qucikly. 2 years ago I bought my 02 WRX, rod knock 3 weeks into it. Found an "EJ20 block" on craigslist went and got it. Turned out to be a 257. I at the time had no idea of what to do or what could go wrong. 4k dollars later. It runs. Be prepared to spend alot of money on parts and labor. Highly reccomend. JP pistons, made specifically for this motor set up, bigger injectors... theres alot more I cant think of now. But beware this is a big job.

You just need to make the right adjustments to get it to work correctly or you'll end u spending a lot on a bad investment. It's not plug and play...
