It's been a while. Hell most of you probably don't even know me. Well on to my little story of misery. A few years ago I put my car in storage since I would be bouncing around the country for work. Well a few months ago I settled back down and last month I pulled my car out of storage.
Well since it sat for a few years I figured I should do a full service. Did a full timing belt job and everything.
Now onto my sad story, Sunday I was just cruising to the hardware store and at a stop light I heard an awful rattle but it went away with revs so I didn't think much of it but still had the car flat bedded home. Today I was finally able to tear into the car. Timing belt tensioner snapped and dropped my boroscope down the spark plug tubes looks like valves kissed all four pistons.
RIP built 207. RIP.
On a side note I've picked up a Fiat Abarth and love it. 1.4L of pure pissed off fury.
Of course I'll rebuild it. I'm 70k into a $6500 car lol. Idk what I'll do. I might tone it down and go back to an FP green. Probably a nice destroked 2.5. I love the 35R but I do miss the car being street able enough to DD.
Or I might go balls out. Finally do the H6 or an LS and shoot for quadruple digits. It will probably be a few months though. I'm still just so damn upset.
And I'm really enjoying the little Fiat. It really makes me miss when my car was stage 2 and just smiles.
Stock yeah 160 at the crank. Mines closer to 220whp
I've seen the billet blocks before. Not my cup of tea. I'm still looking through what people are doing nowadays but the destroked 2.5 is sounding pretty fun.
If your looking for the block that people are flooding to is the Outfront Motorsports closed deck. 0 failures from what I can find. That's the base of my build I just did.
I've seen that. But IF I go with an EJ2X I'm probably going to do a PRS Closed Deck EJ25. I'm really thinking about going with the H6 and a smaller turbo. I've already got the standalone, fueling, and gear box to support it. Or an LS>
Well, pulled the trigger on an authentic S202 front half with complete drivetrain (including the S202 exhaust). I've decided I'm going to build the S202 wagon Subaru never did. Going for a very OEM+ type build still going to shoot for 350whp by the time I do some witchcraft on the turbo and a few tweaks here and there to the heads.
im kinda doing the same thing with my wagon. im even going as far to get the blue interior. i just grabbed door cards the other day and i got a blue carpet on the way. im also gonna have my rear seat done with the blue. its gonna need to be a custom job to get the blue inserts into the rear wagon seats but i am determined to do it. the sti rear seat bottom bolts right in, the the seat backs im going to have problems with, but i should eb able to de-stitch both seat and then sew in the blue insert on the wagon seat backs.
i actually went over the things im missing and there isnt much left. i need STI trailing arms and aluminum lateral links, JDM headlights and fog lights and then thats it. i will literally have completed an STI Wagon Automatic. only problem is my dash cluster. getting an automatic sti dash cluster is well... impossible lol. i found a 260kph auto dash from an STI police car in japan, but it didnt have STI on it anywhere and it was far to expensive so i passed.
i have some of questions about that motor when you get it if you dont mind answering them for me. would help the 207 community a ton.
Ask away. This is definitely not my first foray into the 207 adventure. I'm not going to change up my suspension or driveline since I've already got so much invested, although I will probably have Robispec revalve/refresh my KWs. I'll probably keep the 6-speed on the shelf as a backup plan for the PPGs.
But I will be completely swapping the interior (front seats will be Recaro ProFI carbon recovered w/ STi fabric), and adding the rear flares, badging, roof vent, wheels, rear diffuser, and oil cooler (I'll be going back to my APS TMIC since the big ass FMIC is a tad overkill for my 350-400whp goal)
are you taking apart the heads? and if so can u measure the cam lobes? supposedly the S202 got special cams that no other engine did. they were revised for the next year and used in the spec-c models for subsequent years.
its rumored that the "S" engines came balanced from the factory and have designated marks on the flywheel. i have my spec-c flywheel that i did not use as i stayed automatic. can u take some detailed pics of your flywheel and we can compare to see if there are any indifferences?
are you certain you 100% have the S202 ecu? i dont think they are specially marked like the S203/S204. if so can u read and share the Stock OEM Rom that is on there? noones been able to find a genuine oem S202 rom. at least noone i know.
thanks dude! looking forward to your progress.
