I was informed Saturday that the 2.5 TR engine is almost exactly the same as my 2005 STi. Supposedly the pistions, rods, crank, and heads are totally the same, according to this person. Correct me if I am wrong but just off the head, the pistons, rods, crank, and valves are totally different. I have researched every page I and can't find anything on this. Clarification please!
I have a 2006 TR.
I have been told the same thing as you. From many differnt places. ( PDX tuning, Rally Tech,) AND all the web sites that are subaru performance mainly, have 06 wrx parts and sti parts as being one and the same.
ALSO the 2006 WRX does have forsure AVCS, and a little bigger injectors.
AND I have been told that it also has the Semi-closed Deck.
But I will find out forsure in about a month when my motor comes out.
I am been told that ALL the STi has on the 06 wrx, as far as POWER goes is .. ECU/Trubo/
I think the sti does have better pistons or maby it was rods... one of the 2....I THINK.....
But this is just what I have fouond out for myself...nothing is in stone yet
So if anyone knows anything ..FORSURE.... i am subscribed!!!
EDIT: Wow this site is Dead... wow. ... no offence ..
"The 2006 WRX short block is the same as the STI, except for the pistons. And the pistons in the WRX are the same as the STI, except for the extra 2cc of dish volume
Not to mention fuel system, ecu, turbo, ic, etc, are different.
