Cam Gear removal...

Ok guys, I did a search and I found nothing so here is my question.. As you all know my luck my rex is down.. I pulled the motor today to get to the root of the problem, or atleast find the root of my problem.. Well, as my luck goes I can't get the cam gears off to pull the cams so I can pull the heads... I assume they are standard thread as the crank pulley was, but no luck.. Non on reverse thread either.. I tried an impact first, then a wrench on the hex in the cam and a pipe on an allen wrench, yea, I am no small boy and I couldn't budge it.. I don't want to apply heat, but unless I am missing something I don't see any other options.. Some help would be greatly accepted.. Thanks guys...

Well no one even posted here, but I fingured it out anyway.. I found it easy once I noticed that there was a 1-1/8" hex pattern on the cam shaft.. I simply put a wrench on that and a Pipe on the allen wrench and with a lot of elbow grease the Cam Gears came off.. I will say this.. They are tight....

an easier way to remove the cam gears is to remove the cam covers and put a wrench on the flats on the cam shaft. bit late i guess, maybe it'll help someone else.

Sorry imbeterthanu I just now realized that there were replies to this post.. Once I was able to remove the Gears I didn't check back.. Well to answer your question the manual says 72.4 ft lbs but man I will tell you that they were tighter than that...
