Hey i have a 205 currently being built, the thing is i havent seen much built 205's so i dont know how capable this block is or whats its limits...can any of you chip in? i currently have a vf22 and i was thinking 24psi on a front mount..maybe 27 with meth...and eventually bigger turbo etc...will this block do me well or will it collapse...i know this is open deck but from what i understand the walls are not too bad. assuming all that the car is well tuned and not beaten up on 24/7
it would proabably be cheaper to swap in an sti shortblock and keep your 205 heads. you can kkep your stock ecu and you will have a buttload more torque, which is nice. there are people who have built ej205s, check out youtube and search ej205. There are a couple there that are putting out some good numbers. the problem is that your lag would be incredible with the 2.0 and a big turbo.
i kinda wanted to be different and build my 205, would have loved a 207...but i actually came out cheaper than a stock 257...but i mean a built 205 has to be stronger than a stock 257 right?...i really dont want a 257...lol dont ask why...perhaps just ignorance...
the 205 is currently being built in the shop..i got a good deal on internals...im just looking to see what a built 205 is capable of and most importantly whats its limitations
What exactly are you changing from the stock block? I have never even heard of anybody building up an EJ205 (it's a little crazy) so how can I to tell you what the limitations would be?

16G powered lagless fun
They handle about 350whp on pump gas and are well suited to a 20G sized turbo. You should be able to set the rev limit higher than 7k yes? What did your builder say? Or is this a stroker kit?

I guess i can set my rev limit higher, but i didnt do springs and retainers, i might do them i still dont know. i would have loved to do cams and all that as well but the money is kinda running short and i still have to pay labor loll...im friends with the owner of big valley sti and he said for me to stay away stroking the 2.0 or boring it...so i kept everything stock in that form...but on my current setup vf22 750cc injectors and front mount...i was thinking 21-24psi 93oct...and maybe 27ish with meth...would i be fine?
okay so i was just watching a video of a bugeye with a 35R and a 2.5....fasttt lol...but i understand that because of the 2.0 there is mass turbo lag...but how come evo's run 35r's all day on 2.0's...
if you are going to all this work and have everything torn apart buy some good valve springs and retainers man dont cheap out on something that doesnt really cost that much, a 20g turbo would be pretty nice with that build as well, let us know how it goes man
Apples to oranges...Evos are straight 4s or I-4s and are incrediably well balanced with a high red line. Granted most of the turbo set-ups are twin scroll for evos also. Yeah, I'd have to agree. If your switching most of the stuff out for forged. You're pretty much building a 207. It probably wouldn't hurt to expand that red line. Because your engine won't spool most larger turbos until the top end. GL with it all.
