Awesome Subi Build In the Making

Hey guys I resurrected a very old thread of mine The time finally came...motor build! but thought it would just be easier to start a new thread. Here's the same post I posted on my old thread:

Haven't been on here in a long time but wanted to update everyone with my current set-up. It has been quite the journey the past few years with my subi but it will well be worth it in the end. I am currently on my 4th motor...I know right? :/

Stock blew due to crushed piston with turbo upgrade then the other 2 due to dropped sleeves...long story. As I still wanted a sleeved block, I went with Dan Benson Sleeves and sent my short block off last July and then received it back late October. Sleeves looked incredible!! Two thumbs up for Dan Benson!

After I had my first motor built I pulled 430whp/428wtq at 21 psi. Still had more to go but she overheated due to the sleeve dropping. Can't believe I got those numbers on my top mount. Stock motor was 385whp/378wtq.

Not to long after having received my block, my shop got broken into and my wheels and tires were stolen. Other cars in the lot didn't have it as good as I did, even though it still sucked!

Long story short, I decided to switch from the 5x100 to the 5x114 hubs. Scored a mint pair of the current sti 18 inch bbs wheels on ebay which I'm very happy about and am going to run 245/40/R18 Nitto NT-01 tires for the track this spring/summer. Went with Feal road race coilovers 10K front, 9K rear. Was going to go 12K/11K but still wanted to be able to utilize the coilovers as I won't run the Nitto's all year, as my subi is currently still my DD. Also added in some whiteline sways front(22mm) and rear (24mm).

Why sleeved?

Also, that intake is holding you back.

I had it sleeved for when I go rotated which will hopefully be after I break in my new motor. I'm wanting to push 700+ whp

Ya I know it is, but for the turbo I currently have it works fine. Obviously that intake will go when I go rotated

It sounds like it's turning into a track car.

Come on now, Keith... your hatred-infused posts bring us back to reality when we're feeling unusually happy.

That is my ultimate end goal. Need another vehicle though first before I install race seats, roll cage, harnesses, etc.

As long as you're not going to bash me for what ever reason I would like to have your input. I'm no expert by any means. I've always had a great experience from the community on this forum, hence why I'm still here.

Glad to see you're in the game still. Most people get out once they go big.

Thanks Kirt I appreciate it. It's been a long path and there's been times when I sincerely thought about getting out but tracking my car is something I've always wanted to do and I finally have the financial resources (for the most part) to start building a track car. I just want to go for it while I can.

Hows you're subi holding up these days? You still have that prototype blouch turbo?

It's still a one off...Dom3.0 XT-R (Not the one you can buy from their website). Been pretty dead on mods the past two years because my gf went back to college and then got married in October of this year. Now, we bought a house. Lol, so yeah. I hope soon I can start doing some suspension work or something. Just want to mod something again.

Congrats on the marriage! Are you looking to do coilovers or upgraded struts? Ya man I was out of it for awhile as my car has just been sitting in the shop but its great to be back in it again.
