Aftermarket Heads 2002 EJ20

I had a water pump go while I was out of town and my car (2002 WRX) was with a friend. Once I got it to the shop, we found the radiator cracked, head gaskets blown and now I just had the heads pressure checked only to find they are bad too. I have searched for an answer and not found what I'm looking for. I work 2 jobs and I'm deploying overseas very shortly. I would like to have this issue resolved before I go. If anyone knows of good aftermarket heads, I would appreciate a point in the right direction.

Best bet is to look for a set of stock heads. Otherwise your looking at a huge chunk of change for a set of heads. Cobb's start at $3500 I believe.

That's a huge difference in price. Is the performance worth the price?

Depends on your mods. Heads make power, but if your not going big then I wouldn't spend the money yet.

Sounds good. My mods aren't to the point of needing them yet. Thanks for the help.

the stock heads are actually a pretty good design. I'd recommend just replacing with OEM heads. many ppl get 350whp out of the stock heads without issues.

There is no need to spend 3500 on a set of heads. A better option would be to get some oem heads and port them out, and if you really want to... get a valvetrain kit with cams.

+1 but the v7 v8 heads have avcs and you will need to run the hydra tuner and thats $$$$ right there..

but check nasioc in the parts section and you will be able to find a good set of heads.

You don't have to run AVCS or a Hydra to use JDM heads. It still is nice, but if your looking for replacement heads get a set of used heads and have them cleaned then slap them on the motor and be done with it, maybe throw in a good valvetrain while there out.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i think all you need to run avcs is the jdm ecu.

You can just use a JDM ECU with a few minor map revamps, mostly for emissions if I remember correctly.
