3rd gear going out?

So a few months back I did the tranny cocktail that really helped alot and smoothed out my shifting and quieted my tranny. However, a few days ago while driving my 3rd gear started grinding again. It had been grinding before the tranny cocktail change, but now its just 3rd gear where as before it was 3rd and 5th gears would grind. I'm thinking I have a syncro problem, be cause the grinding is happening pretty much all the time.....however when driving real slow and casual driving it doesn't do it as much or as bad. Maybe its time to get an upgrade and do a STI 6speed swap!!!

Ok, So I had to take a customer home today and he lived down an insanely long dirt/gravel driveway. It was raining so it was pretty muddy. I took my 06 rex and on the way back I figured Id have a litttle fun at this very open spot that was on the way back.

I was not destroying my car just having a little fun. I didnt redline or go over any big rocks and the terrain was hardly rough at all. I just did a few doughnuts and took a couple turns. I was probably doing it for about 5 minutes then headed back. About 2 hours later I go to run an errand and my car makes a noise kinda like you hear when your brakes need replacing and its touching metal on metal.

I figured there was just some mud and gravel under my car. So I jack my car up on my 2 post lift and pressure wash under my car. Got pretty much every spec of dirt off from under my car. It still makes the sound!!!!!!! It doesnt happen at any specific time but does make the noise every time I drive it.

any ideas???????????

Hey guys, about once a week now if I let my car idle for a few minutes it'll sputter for a second and almost stall and then return to normal but throw a code- P0171 system too lean (Bank 1). After researching a little I think I'm going to try new plugs, just wanted to see what you all thought. I haven't done anything recently to the car that would affect it really. All I have done is a TBE, Cobb SF intake, and an AP running the OTS stage 2 map. Thanks.

for a good while now my airbag light will go on and off. sometimes it will stay on for a little bit then go away or it will stay for a long period of time. i drove to san antonio with no problem and also while coming back, yet when i went to school this morning my light stayed on and didnt turn off even tho i had started my car 3 times today.

could it be a fuse or maybe a connector of some sort?

thanks

Stock Wastegate causing boost issues???

I have an 04 STi I bought used. It has a downpipe, catback, intake and HKS SSQV. The car was running about about 17 Psi Boost at max boost give or take a pound or 2 for spikes.

Recently the car started acting up. The boost started to intermittently revert back to 10 PSi Max. Now the boost is permanently at max 10 Psi with a bit of a spike to 12Psi at max RPM.

1. Is 10 Psi the stock waste gate setting for an 04 STi?

2. Does anyone know if this is a stock boost stabilizer issue?

3. Has anyone else had the same problem?

I would appreciate any advice............... Thanks!Laugh!

hi all, i've got an 07 impreza and i just put on some bc br shocks.

got all four tuned up good and then had them aligned at a pro shop.

but on the first run i took to test them out i noticed a burning smell. i'm not sure what it is.

i looked under the hood and i've searched for weeks but i can't find anything melting. there was a small tube that i'm guessing came out from air conditioner and it was dripping down onto the pipe, but it's been moved and i still smell burning. not as much smoke...

has anyone had the same problem, or can anyone tell me what going on before i destroy my scooby?

Turbo Problems!!!

I have the stock turbo with almost 140,000 miles I have noticed a faint rattle for a couple thousand miles now and could never find where it was coming from. I don't have any heat shealds left on the car. Other than the noise the car runs strong no problems other than a slight boost fluctuation that has been there for ever now. Today I got in it and no boost so I looked under the hood and the wastegate is stuck open and the rattle is a little louder now and I can tell it's coming from the turbo and sounds like its on the inside, so I haven't driven it since because it almost sounds like something is broken off and bouncing around. Unfortuantly I'm at work so I can't take her apart right now I was just wondering if anyone has any advice before I leave work. I don't wanna blow anything into the motor if thats what it is and I don't wanna pay for a tow it if it's something else and I can drive it.

Hi, I have a 02 wrx and the guage cluster's backlight started flickering on and off a few months ago. sometimes it would happen every night for a couple days straight and other times it would stop flickering at all for a few days and work fine. Then Last week it completely stopped coming on. Any ideas of what it could be? I checked all the little bulbs behind the cluster and they are all fine. If its a ground does anyone know where it is located?
