Hello there everyone! Lets start with some background. This is my first subaru which I bought brand new with 25 miles on it. I have now racked up almost 8,000 miles so it is definetly time to start the mods. I traded in my 2006 acura rsx-s which was my first car which I had modded so modding is not new for me. But in turn it was completely useless in the snow. The awd was a great welcome and the new car has welcomed me to the world of torque! Basically I have some questions in regard to the basic bolt ons.

To rephrase my car is a black 2009 wrx hatchback premium. All thats been done is the window tint all the way around. I have done some research on the catback and have decided on the Greddy SE catback exhaust based on ralleysportdirect.com video. Now as of there I am at a loss.

So let me tell you what my overall list is which is in no particular order. I plan on:
Down Pipe
Up pipe (maybe)
Front mount intercooler
Headers
AccessPort
Fuel pump
Injectors
Short throw shifter
Cold air intake
Motor mounts
Coilovers
and whatever else needs to be adressed in the suspension and tranny.
Also what are my options with tail light tint... I do not want to do any spray on or VHT as that is non-reversible and doesnt always look that great. I am looking for it to be mildly darker because my car is black and the white tails stand out a little too much for my likeing. But I also want somthing durable.

I have an idea of the numbers this can produce but I am not going to go crazy since this is my DD.

If you have suggestions on what matches best with what I will gladly take it into consideration. I am not afraid to spend the money for good quality to have everything done correctly. Lastly, about the FMIC. I am definitly goint to go into that direction for functionality but subtlety is the name of the game. So if anyone knows who can make them black or sells them that way I would very much appreciate it.

Other than that thank you very much for all your help in advance!!

Hello Im fairly new to the forum as well as the tuner world. Ive always loved subaru's. It started as just a WRC fan. Some time down the road I decided to buy a 2010 wrx. It was a slow start, but ive seen several of the threads on projects I enjoyed following so here is mine.
Attachment 4839
I bought this car on a wind. I thought if i did not do it now. I would never so I went to the subaru dealership haggeld for a while and drove it home. I new when I bought it I had big hopes for the car. The dealer asked me how much I wanted to put down. In my head im thinking the more I put down the less parts I can have now. I have good credit so none. I orderd the SPT cat back before I even drove it home. Harman motive catted downpipe about three days later. My wife was furious i bought the downpipe and did not tell her naturally because she would say no. SPT shorty soon after. Intake was next I decided to go with the HKS suction kit, I know other intakes have been shown to produce more power but I enjoy the look.
Attachment 4840
Which brings me to my next point I have always been a fan of the stock location intercooler, I know front mount is far better in cooling proporties. So in the event I do decide to buy a front mount I will sell this intake and go for a Ks Tech or variant. Next i needed ECU managment ofcourse I went with the accessport and it's ever changing tuning abilities. Attachment 4841 I ran into several problems here. Im in the army and stationed at FT. Waynewright AK. Alaska proves to be a tuners nightmare with the highest octane rating on 90 yes 90, the state with all the oil has a super low permium. Also there is only one tunershop i know of here. The reviews i read about this place makes buisness with them not an option. So I called perrin to see what kind of map they could produce for me with 90 octane. chris cone at perrin made me a impressive map working with 90. target psi 16.8. I was pleased with the map added alot of umph. Next in line was headers. I was torn between hp and the subaru sound, after alot of research and asking around i decided to go with GT SPEC equal length. Attachment 4842
I was surprised at the quality of the piece. Living in alaska has it's up's and down's one major down is everything i order is unreal in shipping costs. So i called my buddy and offerd him some beer headers and upipe is not really a one man show. about a hour into the project after fighting off the stupid problems, ie. one stripped bolt he got a phone call and had to go. So i drove on fighting one stupid problem after another.here is the stock vs gt spec Attachment 4843 The headers actually went on smoothly it was not until the up pipe where it got stupid. After doing it one time i bet the next time if i were to do it it would go easy. learn as you go! Thats about it so far il be shipping out of alaska to ny soon, where more options become available. My next move is a tough one i have to decide front or top mount. If i go front most likely a trubo xs if i stay top process west ofcourse. I have a few minor parts on order now grimspeed 3 port boost con, rallitek skid plate. my plan was to do the build in phases phase 1 for me was to breathe it out headers back. Now that phase 1 is done phase 2 will consist of fuel componets, cooling and turbo which is a whole delima in intself. I appriciate feedback, I know myself by reading some of the other projects i learned a thing or two. Hopefully this will help somone in some way. I should make my cooling decision here soon. Il update more when I can thanks for reading.

for the life of me i can not get this bracket to stay on. even in the picture you can see how it works itself off. ive repositioned the elbow many different ways but no matter what it works its self off, and were talking in a matter of hours not weeks or anything. its came off roughly 10 times in 3 days. any advice on a fix or where or how to make or get a replacement cuppler/ elbow/ anything to resolve the issue would be great. thanks

Has anyone heard of PowerFlo oil filters? I think the is a Puralator filter from what I can find.

Anyone have any issues with them? I found out this is what my shop uses. PowerFlo oil filters and Castrol Synthetic Blend.

Name is Adam, I currently reside in Florida, and am 21. I have lived in Florida for the past 12 years, but plan on moving to Colorado as soon as possible. I am a double major in Finance and Marketing, and hope to get my masters in both. I, for the most part, love all kinds of cars. I love muscle cars, exotic cars, sporty sedans, sport cars, you name it.

As of recently, I have really started to consider buying the new 2011 WRX sedan. I love how it looks and performance wise, it has quite a bit of potential. The WRX also offers AWD, which is huge, for when I do move to Colorado here soon. The WRX also has room in the back, unlike most sporty cars now a days, with the exception of a few.

I have narrowed down the selection to three cars... the first being the WRX sedan, the second, being the new turbo'ed sonata, and the last choice, would be the genesis coupe. I personally believe the 11' WRX sedan leads in the race however.

I have come here to learn as much as possible about the WRX/STI.

To conclude, you might ask...if you get the WRX...what are your plans? Color wise, Red. I would love to do some kind of carbon fiber lip, new rims, new brakes, maybe take the wing off the STI and get a carbon fiber version...maybe do a carbon fiber vinyl wrap for the roof. Performance wise? Basically bolt on's and a tune for now. Maybe within a year, maybe less, depending on things, maybe a turbo upgrade. I wouldn't want more than 475hp.

So my goal since I got my STi was to accumulate the parts for a nice turbo swap in the garage as I get deals on them and save them in the garage until it's complete. This guy is selling an old and new style green at killer prices. I have no idea what the difference is. I don't want something with a lot of lag, I love quick acceleration. Is one of these better than the other for that?
