A Kartboy SS has been recently installed on my 09 wrx sedan,I don`t know what the problem is but it doesn`t feel right. When i`m down shifting and i`m on lower gear on 2-2.5 RPM noise is coming from the shifter. They told me that this was from the bushings but i cant believe that because it`s more like metal noise then rubber. If any one has kartboy SS please let me know how it is whit your shifter any problems or noises thank you:confused:

well if you guys remember i bought a catless ERZ DP. Im really picky and i didnt like the quality at all. the 3in pipe stuck out the back flange and i would of had to grind it down which is BS because ERZ should of seen that and took care of it before shipping. next the turbo flange didnt sit flush and would have leaked and the hole cut out didnt match the gasket at all and just poor R&D. also they didnt include the CEL fix like i asked!

well i got a second DP, a catted one this time!! i didnt want catted!! and still no CEL fix. turbo flange does sit flush now and the pipe doesnt stick out the back flange but the cut out is still all wrong and im pretty sure it would leak because it wouldnt crush down on a stock crush ring.

well i didnt want to wait or pay more for the Perrin so since i only paid $175 for a $320 DP i desided to keep it. if it leaked then i would deal with that down the road.

well tonight i break out the tools. spend 2 hours getting the stock DP off because the top nut and bolts wouldnt come off. i ended up cutting them off since ERZ did include 2 new nuts, bolts and lock washers. well i get under the car, slid the ERZ on the bottom 3 threads and put the nuts on, put the bolt on for the middle mounting bracket and slid down to the DP to CBE section and what to my surprise do i see???????????/ the DP is over 5 inches to short!!!!!! i have never been more pissed in my life and so hateful to a company!! ERZ stuff is junk and no one should buy there crap! please let everyone you know not to buy there stuff!! trust me!!

I cleaned it up and temporarily mounted it to get the slip joints welded up, then coated it.

First of all, if I'm going to spend $700 on my car, it won't be on these. That being said, has anyone looked into upgraded coil packs? I didn't see any hp boasts, but I'm sure it would help.

Okada Projects Subaru WRX & STi Plasma Direct Coils (http://www.fredbeansparts.com/servlet/the-1477/Okada-Projects-Subaru-WRX/Detail)

And they don't get much cheaper. They're $655 on ebay.

And at what point do you upgrade or change out the wiring going to the packs? It's only 16 or 18 gauge wire, there is a limit to what you can send through it. I wonder if putting higher draws on them with packs like these wouldn't really test the longevity of the wires.

TMIC = More Boost?

Guys, I just installed a Perrin TMIC on my 09 WRX H/B. I was running Cobb Stage 2 ACN91 and the target boost was 17 psi +- 0.8.

While I was testing the IC (cool night around 60s @ California), the boost was up to 19.1 psi. I did not change anything but the new IC. Is this normal?

COBB vs Perrin DP

Well I can't find too much on this comparison so I'll ask it here. I'm looking for some direction between the Perrin single piece dp for the 09 WRX compared to the COBB DP.

What I'm going off of so far.

*_Perrin DP_*

Pros: Sold as part of the stage II light kit for $1000 with the AccessPort
Reputable company

Cons: Completely tube steel. Could cause higher in-cabin noise.
No bung welded in- would have to have one put in for extra cost if it's even possible with the design (depends on wall thickness of the steel used)

_*COBB DP*_

Pros: Thick cast bellmouth with bung welded in. Make it easy to put in the AFR gauge later. Can also reduce in-cabin noise coming off the turbo.
Also a quality company.
Already have the COBB CBE so I know it will fit nicely.

Cons:
Cost- 595 by itself and then I would have to buy the Accessport for another 695. I would be spending 1300 for the two compared to 1100 max if I get the Perrin and a welded in bung later.

Right now I'm honestly leaning towards the COBB piece because of the bung already in place and the fact that I love COBB and the bellmouth design seems to be a bit better.

Advice?

Maximize 09 wrx turbo, next steps?

So the TMIC is done and so is the downpipe.

I've finally decided on my current goal is to maximize the output
I can get from the stock 09 WRX turbo.

The downpipe/tmic had done well to improve power but also increased
the boost taper effect at 5000+rpm. I would like to remove some of this
boost tapering and get the most out of the stock turbo without pushing
the turbo beyond its safe limits.

The things to achieve this are for sure a fuel pump upgrade. I have had
mixed opinions on injectors so I would like more input on this. For instance
if I should upgrade injectors, what size do I get? Can anyone post/email
me links to a vendor I can pick these up from?

This leads me to a question regarding the boost control solenoid. If I do
injectors + fuel pump, do I require a new EBSC?

My protune date is coming up and I am hoping to get the rest of these
mods done so I can have just a single protune to get the most out of
my turbo since this is how it will remain for a while.

well if you guys remember my review of the first ERZ DP: http://www.wrxtuners.com/forums/f121/erz-performance-catless-dp-27293/

DP to turbo flange was horribly cut with a gap for gasket and cut to large of an opening and pipe stuck out of the DP to midpipe flange.

Company i bought it off of said ERZ would send me a new one. well new one showed up.

1st, they still did not include the CEL fix elbow. i believe they didnt include it because they now sent me a catted DP when i wanted a catless DP. this flange does sit flush on a flat surface now but ERZ told me NOT to use there DP to turbo gasket and go buy an OEM one. so i did. and now they didnt include one of there DP to turbo gaskets and i feel thats a rip off. also the opening of the ERZ DP is still way off from the size of an OEM gasket. so blow by is still a concern, and the OEM gasket burning due to the gases will be blowing by at hot and extreme temps.

last time they also included all new hardware. this time i got nothing. a letter now says just use OEM bolts. Clearly to me this Co. does no R&D and you clearly get what you pay for!!

also im the kind of guy that HATES!!!!! when i tell you something and you dont do it. if i write you an email, and you can clearly read what 3 problems im having with you and you send me still no CEL fix, a totally different DP and all hardware is different you just made an ass of yourself and cant follow simple directions!

if you buy ERZ stuff i feel bad for you wanted to save $100 here and there. stuff is junk and wont be dealing with them a 3rd time. told all this to the Co i bought the DP off of. hopefully THEY will be taking care of me and giving me the Perrin like i asked after the 1st ERZ DP.

Clearly to me this Co. does no R&D and you clearly get what you pay for!!

also im the kind of guy that HATES!!!!! when i tell you something and you dont do it. if i write you an email, and you can clearly read what 3 problems im having with you and you send me still no CEL fix, a totally different DP and all hardware is different you just made an ass of yourself and cant follow simple directions!

if you buy ERZ stuff i feel bad for you wanted to save $100 here and there. stuff is junk and wont be dealing with them a 3rd time. told all this to the Co i bought the DP off of. hopefully THEY will be taking care of me and giving me the Perrin like i asked after the 1st ERZ DP.

hey guys, been reading a lot of posts about the mounts in a lot of threads all over the place and wanted to bring them together here.

first off im reading different things about them. are they really an upgrade for motor mounts and tranny mount? is the company Group N or is it Subaru Sti stuff? is this what is factory on the Sti's? I just dont want to buy something thats close to factory. i see its an "Sti" item and the low cost makes me think its just factory stuff so why do it?

as for the pitch stop, it still looks plastic, when i think i metal aftermarket one should work best.

09 WRX sedan TurboXS cat back review

hey guys, just got my TurboXS CBE. i wasnt going to get an exhaust yet but i saw this on ebay from a company and they were selling it at an intro super low price and i couldnt pass it up!!! i was going to get the cheapest CBE i could find later and that was an invidia race exhaust. i really didnt want the single tip since i have 2 stock and best i could find was $475 plus shipping. this TurboXS was $449 shipped!!

quality is top notch!! everything stainless, full 3", nice polish, nice welds ect. fitment to my stock DP took a minute because the bolts that came with were to thick and i had to drill out the 2 holes on the stock DP so i could use them, no big deal i had the drill bit. pretty sure the bolts are not stainless though :(. fitment over all is good but kinda close. midpipe is less then 1/2in away from the middle drive shaft support. Y pipe is about 1/2in from the bottom of the trunk and rear sway bar. most concern is driver side Y pipe is 1/8in from the rear subframe mount. i can get it to hit it when i pull on it but i did not hear one noise on the test drive, so thats good. because i will be installing a 22mm rear sway bar i think im gonna buy the hanger extentions and take care of all 4 close calls.

start up and test drive were quite shocking! i dont care what video is on youtube they all BLOW!! this thing sounds mean! really really low rumble, very throuty and deep and loud. now im no expert on Subi aftermarket exhausts but start up and climbing threw the RPMs this thing has some Db's behind it. not sure if its cop attracting but i will be in neutral if i see one. i couldnt be happer with the sound! just awsome tone and rumble. anyone looking for a CBE TurboXS is deff a way to go!

my friend doesnt know if he likes it though. he never heard a boxer before and didnt know why it sounded like that haha, i think it was growing on him though. only thing that sucks is i think i bolted down the DP and midpipe to tight and in the middle of the bolts on top and bottom its leaking like crazy. going to Summit tomorrow it looks like and buying another gasket or two and doubling them up, o well.

09 WRX Headers/Uppipe

Just curious and couldn't find anything too relevant already posted...

Is it cost effective to put headers and an upipe (probably Tomei) in an 09 WRX?

Only reason I'm asking is because if I'm going to do it, I want to do it when I do my DP and tune. Since you have to pull the dp off to put the uppipe on I would rather just do it all in one install (probably hit the engine mounts then too).

I know the 09's no longer have cats anywhere before the turbo so I'm not really freeing anything up, except for a better flowing design. I'm also going to keep the unequal length setup so I keep my rumble.

Just need some recommendations/experience if anybody's put them on their 09's, whatever the brand/type.

so i was on the high way and i went wot in 5th at around 2500-3500 and my car jerked,(similar to dumping the clutch), and then my check engine light and cruise went on. im guessin my car overboosted. the light stayed on after a restart or two and then it went off before i could check the code. any ideas as to what could have happened? 08 wrx xpt stage 2
