2006 WRX Wagon, SPT Exhaust, Intake, warrantee now over, next steps for more fun?

I have a general tuning question. I have a 2006 WRX wagon with the SPT add ons, exhaust, intake, heat shield, boost gauge, short shifter. I love LOVE this car. My other car's a 2007 Legact GT that my wife drives.

The '06 wagon warrantee just ended, and so I'm considering non-subaru improved mods/tuning on the car. I'm not a wrencher, but love to drive, just a personal choice, the time I have I'd like to spend driving and with my daughters and wife.

Knowing I have the SPT stuff all in, without dropping a huge load of cash, and without putting the engine at risk from aggressive driving, what would you recommend I do to max out my power/performance/fun factor without creating a high maintenance machine that requires constant attention or unnecessary wear and tear on the engine?

I'm assuming Accessport will come up? I'm actually considering this for my Legacy GT, could I use the same Accessport for both cars with different maps?

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

I'll say this, with my car fairly stock, last time I was in Vegas I rented a 911 and took it out into the desert past the dam, and even at speeds exceeding 130+ I was suprised how my WRX was so close in feel and grab tot he 911. I expected the 911 to blow my mind, it actually just made me love my little T-wrex more ;)

Don't see a lot of these in NYC but for me it's the perfect NYC urban assault vehicle.

Hi i recently aquired a 02 WRX and it needs a rear brake job. Im planning on using centric premium rotors with akebono ACT pads and replace the wheel bearings, the car has 131k on it. How much time/effort is it to do this? would i have to bake the new rotor to get the new bearing in there??? Im planning on doing the front soon too? Anyone used the brembo blank rotors?? The cryo-stops look good, i'd paint the hat on the brembo's due to rusting issues, the centrics and cryo's have a powder coat on em to prevent rust. What rotors do yall reccommend using on the front? the rear doesn't take much abuse so i skimped on the rotors lol

Hi all, Lookin to purchase a new car and am finally down to two that really have my attention. I've been building and modding cars for a few awesome years and am now ready to get something that I can mod, but, still drive daily and have fun in. The two cars in question are a 2005+ tacoma and a 2006+ Wrx sti. I have a few questions that I have and I know can be answered here. First off, what should I be aware of when looking at a used WRX, like problems or areas that may require attention. And I know these are an out of the box sports car with a plethora of options and modifications that will make it an intense vehicle to drive, but I'm about to graduate and hit the job search so I need it to be mild at best. What would you all recommend for this car that would make it even more of a blast to drive without dipping too deep into the bank account? My name is Dylan and I appreciate the responses and look forward to posting here.

A Kartboy SS has been recently installed on my 09 wrx sedan,I don`t know what the problem is but it doesn`t feel right. When i`m down shifting and i`m on lower gear on 2-2.5 RPM noise is coming from the shifter. They told me that this was from the bushings but i cant believe that because it`s more like metal noise then rubber. If any one has kartboy SS please let me know how it is whit your shifter any problems or noises thank you:confused:

EDM ECU Vs USDM ECU

Hey everyone , I Haven't been on for a while since i was busy with all my upgrades . I Think i'm finally there , replaced the up pipe , Invidia seperate wastegate down pipe , installed equal length headers from perrin , Invidia catless TBE , Walbro fuel pump , samco turbo inlet , perrin FMIC and K&N Typhoon .

So i'm finally ready for tuning and bought the Tactrix open port 2.0 , and tried downloading the stock rom and i keep getting an error message , i put the green connectore together and when the ignition is turned to the on position i can hear the fans cycling , i use the ecuflash program and first selected the EDM option since my WRX is a 2004 european model and got an " error check log " , so then i tried the USDM option just in case , same error message , so then i tried all options and years just in case i get lucky and still same error message .

My question is does anyone know what this means and/or how i can read the rom , is it different reading a EDM rom than a USDM Rom , My ECU has 6 S on it .

Also if i can't read it and want to buy one online will a USDM ECU work instead of my EDM ECU ??

Hi guys. After thinking about what car I'm going to get for myself, I've made a decision of getting a used WRX wagon. I've always loved how the wagon looks. I have read about wrx owners are very happy with their cars. Excelling in both performance and in reliability. Although I have heard a couple of complaints about the car that worries me abit. I joined here in hoping that I would be able to get these things cleared.

I have read somewhere that wrx engines have a head gasket design flaw where there's a leak that eventually causes engine failure. I want to know if its true or not and if it is, are there ways to inspect for it or if theres an aftermarket product that will resolver this issue.

Next one is that I would like some help in picking a used one. Unfortunately, I am only able to afford a used car at this time of hardship. So the ones I have seen that I can afford almost always reaches 100k+ miles on them. At this mileage, Should i be worried about the car not having enough miles on them before it starts breaking down major parts? I know that wrx's are generably reliable and it totally depends on how well the car has been taken car of. But every car has its limits. If i do happen to buy one that has more than 100k miles on it, what should i look out for that should have been done by the previous owner?

Thanks for the help in advance guys. I really do look forward to be a WRX owner. I feel so damn excited.

Hello all!!! I am a big time car guy. I have had many different makes and model cars over the years. I currently own a '06 Corvette Z06. I am looking to add a DD to the mix. I am looking at a new '10 WRX Hatch. I have test driven both it and the STI and feel for my needs the WRX is right for me. I have a few questions...
I hear the tranny is very weak. I dont plan on modding it powerwise.. maybe some on the suspension. What should I avoid to make sure the tranny stays healthy. I might take it down the 1/4 a few times a year.... I realize powershifting wouldnt be a good idea, but would I need to take it real easy?

Is there any thing else I should know about the car? It seems like one fun ride!!!

Thanks for any help!!

Thanks for any help!!

so i was at the dealership having something taken out of my gas tank to keep it from stalling out in the corners with a low tank. not sure exactly.
but it was free to have taken out. and if i didn't i would've been in danger of my catalytic converter being destroyed (apparently)

so AAAAAAnyway.....

i was walking around the lot, and i found my way up next to an 09 impreza. just the 2.5 not a wrx or anything. i'm not a big fan of the newer syling, but there was something eorse about this little car. first i noticed the seat fabric looked like old teddy bear remains.

then i noticed the plastic rims on the black steel wheels.......

what the crap?

then i noticed that the whel well wouldn't support much bigger of a wheel than on stock.

there weren't any wrxs or sti's there, so.... do the new wrx's look like that? has subaru made that big of a product turn around? i seriously thought the focus' looked like a higher wuality car.

i felt so ashamed....

So I'm still a newbie but I've been doing my research. My 05 has nasty "saggy ass syndrome", and I can't stand it. I'm now considering buying shims for my rear to hopefully even out the car. My suspension is stock for now and I'm hoping someone can give me any feedback or advice about my idea?
