Hey guys in a newbie to the forum and im in need of some advice !! im looking to buy my first wrx and i went and looked at a 2004 subaru wrx with 96000 miles. it has its goods and bads it needs alot of cosmetic attention , dented front fender , some scuffs it needs a front fender road gaurd. no rust tho at all everything is super clean underneath and paints pretty good !! the worst part is the driver side door is taken apart it needs a new motor and switch . aside from the bads it has a new clutch i know its a nicer aftermarket clutch haha forgot the name but he said he can get reciepts. like i said super clean underneath and interior isnt horrible. he was asking 8500 and i knocked him down to 7000 cash and he said hed take it . can anyone offer me some advice on if its worth 7k?? im new to subaru's but eager to learn , thanks in advance for your help !!!

Brand new here to the site. Thanks for any help you all can offer! I am going to pick up my car from the dealership tomorrow and I have some questions if someone could help about what modifications they can see from the pictures provided. I've noticed that the battery seems to not be in the same place, neither can I located a wind shield washer fluid reservoir. For 84k miles does the car look in good shape at least? The dealer did say that the O2 sensor is non existent so the check engine light will always appear on. Is there a valid reason it wouldn't be installed?

I bought my son a 02 Subaru WRX and it is in need of a few things. We are currently tasked with replacing the oxygen/air fuel ratio sensor and at some point we will need to replace the engine. It has over 200K miles on it.

I would like for him to do most of the work himself and with a bit of guidance from this community I think he will be just fine.

Of course he has a lot of great ideas that for modification right. It is turbo already but he has a few things he wants to change to make it his own.

Thanks for listening and I will back. -:)

Hey guys I've been having a slow coolant leak on my 2007 WRX. Whenever the tank is full it will leak down to about 1/10 the way and stop. After it has done this leak it will stop and no other problems will arise until I fill the reservoir back up. Here are some pictures of where it leaks, and it seems to be the entire top of the core. My car was in a wreck and the repair shop replaced the radiator. It started leaking about a year after the repairs. My questions is where to go from here. Should I just replace everything? Here are some pictures sorry that they are HUGE :(

Hi all,

It's my first post, but I've been browsing this forum (and many others) for years. I have some questions regarding tires now that I share the enjoyment of having a turbo Subaru (2.5i was my first Subaru).

I have searched around quite extensively, but I have ended up with more questions than answers. Also, most of the threads that I have visited touch on the topic but then quickly stray into aftermarket wheel fitment and tire choices.

I have the stock 8" wide wheels on a 2012 WRX sedan. For reference, the stock tire size is 235/45R17. I'm leaning towards the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and the only disadvantage I have found is people saying the sidewalls are a bit more compliant than the OEM Dunlop's.

So here we go:

Should I stick with the OEM tire size or are there enough benefits to going with a wider and/or shorter tire as in a 245/45R17 or 245/40R17 to warrant the change?

Obviously, I understand that a wider tire "should" provide a better contact patch and therefore "better" grip.

From what I've read a shorter tire than OEM (i.e. XXX/40R17) is better for the WRX gearing, but I don't know if this applies to the 08+ models are just the older models. I also admit that I don't understand what "better for gearing" actually means. Also, going from a XXX/45R17 to a XXX/40R17 is a minimal change in height, but I really really want to avoid the "big wheel / small skinny tire" look. I'm not a rapper or a pimp. The ride height is also still stock, so I don't want the wheel and tire to look too small for the wheel well either.

I think the car handles great now for how I drive, it's a daily driver in the Northeast, and I do drive on some pretty bumpy / crappy roads. My main goal was to go a bit wider, but after searching I have so many more questions and concerns that I may just go with the OEM size and be done with it and potentially miss out on some performance advantages.

Would you guys mind sharing your thoughts on this? 235/45R17 (OEM), 245/45R17, or 245/40R17?

I have a 12 WRX with Invidia catted downpipe, cat back, aem cai, GFB blow off valve and Cobb Accessport Stage 2 lwg map. It's been almost a week since installing the DP and catback and I'm noticing a notable loss of power. When I get on the gas around 3k RPM, the boost just sounds loud and like its spooling a lot louder than normal. During that time I feel like a have no power. It doesn't put you back in the seat like it used to. On the Accessport I've been watching the boost and it still boosts around target boost and eventually see it go to 24, 23 psi. I've also gotten wastegate solenoid CEL once before the exhaust install and once since the install. Car seems fine around normal driving below 3k rpm but anything higher and it definatly doesnt feel right. Anyone have any ideas? I've been looking and seeing info about IC to throttle body clamps could be loose or blown and other things about waste gate up pipe might could be bad. Another noticeable issue is the car seems to backfire a whole lot more when shifting or getting of the gas. If anyone has any good info please your advice is needed. Don't really feel like putting everything back to stock and taking to dealer but I'll do so if that's what it takes.

Subiefest has found a new home this year at the amazing Auto Club Speedway facility in Fontana, CA! For those who don't know AAA Speedway (formally California Speedway) is a $100 million dollar racing facility build in 1997. We plan on offering an amazing experience this year and are extremely excited at the possibilities that this new venue opens up to us, our vendors, and our patrons alike.

Mark your calendars for Saturday September 14th, 2013 for the next amazing round of Subiefest. You don't want to miss Subiefest this year! More details to come real soon...
