if the engine starts to missfire and break down when this noise starts then it is an intercooler hose/pipe, if not, start looking at all your vacuum hoses for oil spots as a pinhole in one will show itself by a small spot of oil,the oil from inside the intake tract gets pushed through the hole with the pressurized air. start with the vacuum hoses that dont have much slack in them. good luck, if you can, pull off your intercooler and wipe some of the oil from inside your intercooler onto your fingers, inspect it closely, if there is any shiny particles in it your turbo is the problem. also check around your up-pipe and down-pipe, a minute exhaust leak in either of these joins can make a whistling noise as well.
good luck, hope this helps. post if you find the problem.
