I usually hold it at 4-5k and slip the clutch out pretty fast. There is no real damage done to the clutch, however you will need to replace it alot sooner. When worring about damages to the drivetrain, your biggest concern should be your transmission, specifically your gears, they have a tendence to get stripped when abused to much.

As for the header, I don't suggest it, the stock manifold does quite nicely. I believe most people on here will tell you to stay away from them as well. I personally know someone who has a low 13sec car and took his header off and put back on the stock exhaust manifold. He told me it was the worst $500 he ever spent on his car. I would say get a uppipe (my suggestion is Helix) and a downpipe that will bolt up to your cat-back exhaust. They will run you about the same cost as a header would anyway and should give you much better performance gain.
