Hybrid Rebuild Advice Please

I have my block apart, down to the point where I have the pistons out. I cracked the #4 ring land. No scarring on the walls(Lucky!). SO... I'm doing the rebuild with a Lexus mechanic who is a friend, he tells me that since I'm not taking it above and beyond the expected demand of the STI Block, we don't need to do bearings. EJ25 has 20 - 25k on it. MY mods -EJ25 on WRX heads, STI IC, STI pinks, VF39, Walbro pump, Perrin hoses and rails.

I'm going to get a mild tune on it, and I'm only looking for numbers from high 200's to low 300's. I'm going to run forged pistons. Eventually I'd like to go with a 16g turbo, but I like sleeping in the same bed as my wife, so it's not happening on this build. My question is should I throw in the pistons and call it good or would it be stupid of me not to change the bearings and check or turn the crank while I'm here? Thanks
